Bella Luna Oscategui was born on February 24, 2008. She was born weighing in at 9lbs at 7:39am at home in Ojai, California. It was one of the most physically intense and profound moments in my life.
I am grateful for my midwife, Mary Jackson and her assistants, Ray Castellino, Cheryl Clearwater, and Dawn Dana. They gave Bella the space and time to discover and enjoy her new environment.
During my pregnancy, my diet was 80% raw and 20% cooked:
Raw:
fruits (oranges, apples, mangos, bananas, pineapples, avocados, kiwis, mulberries, blueberries, rasberries, strawberries)
nuts (coconut milk and cream, cashews, walnuts, brazil nuts)
plants and veggies (kale, spinach, romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, sprouts, snap peas, carrots, olive oil, red and orange peppers, onions, garlic)
egg yolk and salmon/tuna sashimi
Cooked:
Quinoa, Butternut Squash, Eggplant, and sauteed vegetables
Bella is now 14 months old. She is still breastfeeding as well as eating her favorite foods: avocado, bananas, mangos, blueberries, kiwis, spinach, coconut milk, dried mango, mulberries.
Oh also, have a daughter born in October of ’08…and am just loving feeding her. She opted to ween a little earlier than I would have expected, but she’s a good eater and we are doing are best to compensate for the nutritional loss with good ole whole foods.
